Season 6 Starts Wednesday

Season 6 begins on Wednesday

The Hand Cricket League formally announces Season 6. The league stage begins on Wednesday, 23 September 2026.

Season 6 keeps the five-team format: 40 league matches across four cycles of five rounds, with two matches played in parallel each round. Every pair of teams meets four times and every team plays 16 league matches.

Jolly Brothers discontinued

Jolly Brothers have been discontinued and will not take part in Season 6. Their records from previous seasons remain part of the official HCL archive.

Welcome, Chennai Dragons

Chennai Dragons join HCL as a new franchise and take every fixture previously allocated to Jolly Brothers.

B. Harish is appointed captain of Chennai Dragons, with Ilam Barathi as vice-captain. P. Harish and Hanish complete the squad.

Season 6 squads

Chennai Dragons: B. Harish (captain), Ilam Barathi (vice-captain), P. Harish and Hanish.

The Royal Strikers: E. Harish (captain), Asvaq, Praveen and an extra wicket.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam: Sarvesh (captain), Syed, Arjun and Bhuvanesh.

MSK and NN squads will be confirmed separately.

New DRS method

From Season 6, reviews are no longer settled by Odd–Even. Each team has 2 DRS reviews per match. To use one, the team must give a valid statement explaining why the umpire's decision should be changed.

The Umpire Council decides. If the council agrees, the decision is changed and the team keeps the review; if not, the review is lost. The toss is still decided by Odd–Even.

Umpiring

Two on-field umpires stand in every match, and no umpire is assigned to their own team's match. Maddy supervises both parallel matches as council supervisor.

Because B. Harish now captains Chennai Dragons, Sarvesh joins the umpire council as TVK's representative and takes every umpiring slot previously assigned to B. Harish.
