Dear HCL community,

HCL goes limited-overs

The Hand Cricket League formally announces HCL20, the league's first limited-overs competition. Every innings is limited to 10 overs per team.

The league stage begins on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.

Jolly Brothers return

Jolly Brothers are added back to HCL for HCL20. They join MSK, TVK, TRS, NN and Chennai Dragons to make a six-team field.

The Jolly Brothers squad will be confirmed separately.

Format

HCL20 has 60 league matches. Every team plays 20, meeting each of the other five teams four times, across five league days. Each day is played in four rounds of three matches, so every team plays four times a day.

The top four teams qualify for the playoffs: Qualifier 1 (#1 vs #2) and the Eliminator (#3 vs #4) followed by Qualifier 2 and the Grand Final, all on Wednesday, 14 October.

Key dates

6 October: three warm-up matches (MSK vs TVK, TRS vs CD, NN vs JB).

7–9 and 12–13 October: 60 league matches across five league days.

14 October: four playoff matches, ending with the Grand Final. 67 matches in all.

No-play days

There are no matches on Sundays, second Saturdays or government holidays. No play on 10 October (second Saturday) or 11 October (Sunday). The season ends with the Grand Final on 14 October.

HCL20 starts on 7 October with six teams and 10 overs per innings. The full fixture list is now published.
